STACK Infrastructure Expands its Data Center Capacity in Milan

Pursuant to announcement on March 1, 2022, this press release has been updated from the previously branded “SUPERNAP Italia” to “STACK Infrastructure,” “STACK,” or “STACK EMEA – Italy” to reflect the current branding.

STACK Infrastructure strengthens its presence in Milan with the acquisition of two land sites proximate to its existing campus. The land expansion is the next step in the Company’s broader European growth strategy.

MILAN – May 6, 2021 – STACK Infrastructure (“STACK” or the “Company”), the digital infrastructure partner to the world’s most innovative companies, today announced plans to expand its Milan footprint with the acquisition of two new strategic land parcels in the Siziano area of Milan, located within the same industrial park as the Company’s existing 40 MW campus.

The two new land parcels combined represent 170,000 square meters (17 hectares/42 acres) and can support three data centers totaling 35 MW of incremental capacity. STACK’s expansion brings the Company’s total Milan capacity to 270,000 square meters and 75 MW. 

The two new land parcels are development-ready, with capacity available as early as Q3-2022.  With the new facilities, STACK will continue to provide its best-in-class colocation services to leading hyperscale and global enterprises to meet their digital infrastructure needs. A portion of the land, in convention with the Commune of Siziano, will be dedicated to public use and urbanization projects particularly valuable to the community.

STACK chose Siziano in 2015 for the development of its first Italian data center campus because of the area’s unique advantages, including easy access to major highways and railways, low seismic risk, and the ability to implement dedicated connectivity infrastructure and develop electrical substations. Siziano is located near one of Terna’s (operator of the Italian high voltage transmission grid) major substations and just a few kilometers from the Milan Caldera campus, which is the headquarters of the Milan Internet Exchange (MIX) and other data centers, to which STACK is connected via more than 200 pairs of owned optical fibers on diversified paths.
